13 year 930 project almost complete!!!!!

This is has been a lesson in patience and futility. This has been a 13 year journey into the depths of what it really takes for me to come full circle. During this time, I have moved once, rebuilt a house, built a full service shop, had a son, bought and finished several other projects. All the while, this vehicle was still on my mind. It has been a long road, but the light is at the end of the tunnel.
During this time, I had to kick myself in the ass a time or two (and helpful prodding from my brother and friends) to stay with this and see it through!! In order to pass the time, I did things like, hand polish the inside and outside of the crankcase (120 hours worth!!!)

Well, the time has come!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been roughly 3 years since the engine was built. Carefully stored during that time, we are now ready to start this damn thing!!!!

Spec sheet on the engine:

- 87’ 930 3.3L stroked out to 3.6L
- 98mm JB Racing cylinders
- JE 8 to 1 C/R Pistons
- Pauter custom length rods
- Crank sent off to Armundo at CCR custom ground to 78.8mm stroke, center oil mods done, and use of 2” Clevite bearings.
- Heads modified by JB Racing, new valves, JB Racing valve springs, ported & polished, port matched and opened up to 3.2L specs (way bigger than 3.3L) twin plugged
- GT-2 EVO cams
- Rarly8 custom equal length headers (one of his first ones, utilizing Burns SS Collectors) 1 5/8” primaries, 2” secondaries, all 321 SS
- Dual TiAL 38mm wastegates
- TiAL GT-35r turbo with TiAL SS turbine housing with V-band housing
- “zork” style exhaust (no muffler)
- TiAL BOV
- Custom Bell full bay intercooler
- 3.2L intake, extrudehoned (you would not believe how unbalanced the stock intake is runner to runner!!)
- Injector Dynamics ID1000 injectors (100 lb at 43PSI)
- Dual 044 Bosch fuel pumps, -8 Teflon fuel line
- M&W CDI ignition
- Dual Bosch coils
- Link G3plus ECU (upgraded to G4 extreme specs) full sequential injection

- Race prepped G-50/50 5 speed gear box (Porsche Motorsports syncros, custom gear ratios) and tapped for oil pump/ cooler
- Stage 3 clutch (935)
- Full race coilover suspension from TRG
- Brembo big brake kit (full car) from TRG 14” front rotors, 13” rear
- Every body panel that can be unbolted from the car was replaced with carbon fiber pieces from M. A. Shaw (they are AMAZING quality!!!) GT-2 bodywork with EVO wing
- Full cage
- RS carpet kit, all rustproofing, sound deadening removed from car
- Lightweight battery

I have the engine in the car, and everything hooked up. I am ready to start the car, but having problems with the crank and cam sensors. The ECU is not getting a signal from the sensors, so that’s where I am at…

Enjoy the pics!!!!!!

Wow, it will be a shame to put that engine in the car and hide it.

You are going to have a fantastic car when done.

There is some serious time, love, and skill in this build...all superior to my current skill levels.

However, regarding mention of sensor signals, I would sincerely forewarn about ECU programming and management. If you are not 100% skippy with getting the software to work 100% flawlessly, find someone who does.

13 years of that tender, love, and care could go POW, instantly, with one improper mouse click.

I'm probably preaching to the choir but ask me how I know...

My Bro!

Glad to see you're finally letting everyone else see it... I'm the brother who in the past 13 years flipped 7 cars (rebuilding the motor in 2 of the 911's) while he was pulled away for other life responsibilities. Happy to see him get where he wants to be and hopefully start this ***** soon!!!

911SauCy, he has been overly careful with what you are referencing and also knows from experience (one of his friends motors went down) so he isn't rushing anything... but great advice which I'm sure he would agree with. He has so many more pics of this beast... it really looks amazing.

Looking forward to hearing this thing from a far.. wishing I was closer to help!

Regards,
Bryan

Yes, on the o-ring... Good eye! The picture was taken during a test fit... It was put on before final assy...

And I have heard good and bad things about JE Pistons. However, when you are dealing with custom rod lengths and C/R's, they are about the only player in the game...

Thanks for the compliments everyone!!! It definately shows my OCD...LOL
