Merry X-mas everyone!!!
Finally got around trying to pull the alternator/fan out of the fan housing today. Unscrewed the three bolts holding the alternator to the housing but the alternator isn't even thinking about budging. Tried placing a 2x4 over the alternator and banging it out... didn't even move a little bit ![]() Don't know what to do now. Thinking of getting a puller (going to need one getting the fan off of the shaft anyways) to push it out. Is this okay to do? And any other ideas.

Lay two lengths of 4x2 softwood [pine] on the garage floor.
Arrange them in parallel, spaced so that the housing sits on them, but they clear the alternator. Smack the housing down FLAT on the wood. The mass of the alternator is enough to drive it free of the housing. Sounds brutal, but its an accepted technique, and it works well.
