2.7 engine harness to 914/6 (14 pin pinouts)

Greetings. I am building a 2.7S hot rod motor to be installed in a real 914/6. The wiring diagrams for the 914/6 are dreadful. I am wanting to mod the 1974 911S, 2.7 wiring harness to be compatible with the 914/6 14 pin connector...........I am very familiar with the 74-77, 2.7 engine harness.....but, can anyone provide a decent pinout for the 914/6, 14 pin connector(s)?

regards,
al

Note: this 2.7 engine is a EFI with M'squirt ECU....so the harness is modded already to work with that....but I would like to make the 14 pin connectors mate to ensure that the remaining active circuits are as plug n play as possible.

Pin out diagram

There is an excellent picture in George Hussey's (Auto Atlanta) booklet on converting a 914 to a 914-6. I'm in the hospital right now, so can't get to my copyright now.

Perhaps someone on the 914World or 914Club site may have a copy they can share. I have a 2.7 in my 914-6 conversion, and it really is a great ride with that engine.

You could also talk to Timmy2 and have him build you a custom harness, plug and play.

I've posted on 914 World, as well. I can find the wiring for converting a 914/4...but not the 914/6. Anyway.....my 2.7RS+ build will move it around nicely.

al

dennis,
Yes, i see the backup light wires look to be afu...but the alt wires appear to connect to the relay board directly, using the alt/VR 3 pin connectors and then connect to the main harness via that control/relay pcb....see below the additional illustrations i've found with my added notes on the wiring diagram.

regards,
al

Funny thing is I have an original 914/6 harness in a box in my shop right now, just haven't had time to even take a good look at it!
Thanks for the additional info.

914/6

OK, I believe that I have the redundant backup light wiring figured out. Per the rear harness illustration provided by Jeff Hynes (I believe) pins 12&14, as well as pins 2&4 are designated for backup lights....but, if you review the relay board diagram that I supplied above, you will see that pins 2&4 are shown with different colors and designations. I've marked up the connector plug diagram to match what I think the correct wiring is.......

Please review and comment.........
