Any thoughts on Techron additive?
I've used gasoline additives on other cars with fair results but they weren't Porsches. Any thoughts on throwing a bottle of Techron in my '79 911 SC?

Should be fine but plan a long drive to get the it all out asap. Your fuel lines and component may degrade faster if you leave it in the car for a long period of time.
Do a couple of I-tune ups to get all the carbon out or much as possible ![]()

Yup, do it on a trip....a bottle is caustic, very little in Chevron pump gas by comparison....

My personal observation on my FPR. I made of mistake of leaving it for a long period of time and it damaged my FPR. Caused it to leak.
This also happened to my Lexus. Maybe I was unlucky or they were both ready to go after it's use, who knows but I feel better to play safe and get it out asap then have a potential problem later. Plus good reason for a road trip ![]()

Porsche did recommend Techron. I recently stumbled across a Porsche Technical Bulletin that explained their recommended procedure. IIRC they said to add it and fill to 1/2 tank. Run that through and then repeat process. If I can find the document again I'll post a link.
Not sure if this is required but I usually do this just prior to an oil change in case any gets in the oil. Hope this is helpful.

+1 on doing it right before an oil change.

I have used Techron for many years with great success. I don't drive my 85 911 every day (retired!) so a few months ago I started it up before a ride and it stumbled like it was on 5 cylinders. Popped in some techron and cleared up right away and has been great ever since. I was mad at myself because I'm usually up on adding it more often. Anyway, It is amazing!!!

I would think the 2200 mile road trip burned 6 tanks of gas...a guess.
Two bottles would be fine.

Some people say that it is a good idea to run Marine Stabil in your gas all the time if you have CIS mechanical injection, which you have. It won't hurt the seals, and it will protect the system, particularly if you are using an ethanol blend. This is the blue stuff, not the red stuff.
Techron is more for cleaning out injectors if you are having problems. Do it before an oil change, as others have said. |

Techron or Seafoam. BTW, SF recommends an oil change after use.

There are two products that you usually see on the shelves, The Chevron Techron and Chevron Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner. Check out the difference, I believe it is the concentration and my guess is the Porsche Bulletin refers to the higher concentration of the Chevron Techron product.
No expert just an observation.

I take a couple of shots every night before bed time. I sleep like a baby but farts can be hazardous.

Got a box of 12 bottles at Costco recently. I've used 2 bottles now with good results, noticeably better & smoother running, power & acceleration.

As a suggestion...
Just use Chevron gas and never worry about it.

The chevron "fuel injector cleaner with Techron" they sell at Costco doesn't contain much Techron in it. You want the Techron concentrate sold in a similar looking bottle at WalMart or a FLAPS. It's a good bit more expensive, but watch the FLAPS ads...they often have good sales on it.
