...just wondering if anyone had heard of the brand.

Not sure how hard to find but here's the easy way: maxilite_wheels on eBay

LOL, the center cap is crooked :D

Hi,

the company is located in Switzerland (www.maxilite.ch) but the wheels are made in China. However, quality is quite good and some of the Porsche wheels are certified by the Austrian and German "TÜV" (official technical authority). These wheels are quite popular in Germany.

Cheers
Alex

They are decent wheels, as good as any other reps. From a price point, Euromeisters range. Good alternative since EM wheels always on eternal backorder.

Exactly this. I got a pair of 16x7 Maxilites to go with my EM rears, since the EMs were on back-order. I can post pictures on request, but the Maxi and EM look identical to my eye. I didn't weigh mine, but they were a bit (less than 5lbs for sure) heavier than my 16x7 Fuchs.

Buddy just ordered EM's Of the 4, 2 had paint defects significant enough he returned them and looked through 4 more to get 2 good ones. I wonder if the quality on these is better.

I forget, is the crest supposed to point to the valve stem? Or did you mean something else?

jmz 07-12-2016 11:10 AM

I wonder how if they can handle the stress of track use... doubtful a wise choice but I don't know anything about these wheels.

I need something to mount some rains on for my 914/6.

JMZ, in our region the PCA expressly rules against using replicas during their track events. I have heard that others do allow it.

What defines a replica? I understand what you are saying but that is rather arbitrary. If someone like BBS or HRE or some other company builds a 3 piece wheel with a fuchs center is that a replica?

What if I purchase a maxlite brand wheel that is the right size but not the same style as a fuchs? ...any better of a wheel.

There are minilites that can be bought now that are aluminum replicas of the original magnesium wheel. ...I think they may even be minilite brand. That's an option I'm also looking at. Would that be a replica?

...anyway just bouncing around thoughts. The site for these wheels I originally posted about says something about German TUV testing which is supposed to mean something.

Now if only there were some reasonably priced tires for those 15x11s

Here's the rule:
Wheels
Any safe wheel, except aftermarket cast imitation Fuchs alloys, are acceptable. Carefully check older wheels for cracking at the lug seat. Insure valve stem brace is installed, if applicable. Check that valves & valve stems are secure. We recommend Porsche original hardware. Under no condition should a repaired alloy wheel be used!

That is hilarious, and thus one of the reasons why I'm no longer a member.

These appear to be TUV certified - according to the eBay page, so likely not garbage. if these guys made an 11x17 wheel I would be seriously considering them for my project. Wide and sporty 15" and 16" tires are now solely in the domain of historic racing enthusiast (read $$$$).

I've been looking into them for sometime now, but I always come to the conclusion that the 15x7's look odd. Is it just me? Does anybody have a picture of 15x7's mounted on a car?

Why would it look odd, 15 was the stock rim size for years. Look at my car, it has 15x7's with 1/4" spacers in the front. Not sure what year you have, but if its a newer model 15's might look small if its not lowered enough.

I agree that original 7's look great on an early. But the maxlite ones (in the pictures anyway) look as if the centre 'spokes' are too small. Its almost like they have copied a 16" and just scaled it down. (it may be my old eyes though!)
