oil leak. chain box-cam tower
the cam line on the right side has been leaking,. I just put a new one on.
I also have had oil between the chain box and cam tower, I think. I don't see how the cam line leak could get back there. I have the car on stands and at a place where all I have to do I remove the chain box cover. I also have the Oring, the 3 hole paper gasket that goes between the box and housing and the gasket for the box to the case,. question is, does the box have to come off to replace that paper gasket? does the paper one need to be replaced or just the Oring, I have been running the engine with it on stands but don't see it leaking. I don't want to start driving it again and it leak then have to get to this point again. is this a common leaking point wish I had a set of SC cams to go in it.

Nope, but you have to remove the chain sprocket
.I would remove the box to refresh the bonds for the tensioner post on the back side of the chain houses, just in case they are weeping from those spots. Just did my 964 cam swap and resealed the box and rocker shafts. It may be the rockers shafts, open the valve covers and see if the shafts moved or weeping from the sides.

I agree with above double check rocker shafts and install RSR seals if you have not done so already.
Mine leaked profusely with high revs , hit the gas and she came streaming out down the back of the chain housing . So I did what you did and seals. its very tight work with the engine in the car but it can be done , This will of course require cam timing and so on.

T7.... Before you stick paper gaskets between housing and case and cover to housing...suggest u check use of sealants. There's an excellent thread listing every sealant for an engine. You'll have to search for it.
