Eds shift coupler

Just installed Eds shift coupler...MAJOR improvement. Prior it was difficult getting into first, now it slides in so easily. It's truly amazing...Biggest improvement I've done to my 86 coupe, for the least amount of money. Tightened up all the shifting.... Thanks Ed...

Contact Ed , "Ivangene" on this forum. It's the bushing ; he will fit to your coupler or just supply the Delrin bushing.

I second that. Pleasant guy to deal with as well. I have an unused coupler bushing set I bought from our host that I've got to figure out what to do with now. Stocking stuffer in the P club?

THANKS!!!

its so nice to see so many happy people!!

as for the bushings you have left over... I have about 60 pair of used ones...not sure what to do with... i thought I threw them all out but somehow I keep finding old bushings in the weirdest places....

the other day I opened a drawer at work and there were 3 pair of used bushings in it??? LOL

early generation...some slight mods have been made since this photo was taken...

the biggest change from stock is 3 fold:
1. round hole
2. smooth pivot
3. no slop side to side, rotational, or laterally

My car was a pain to get into first gear, I would be at a stop sign and panicky that I couldn't get into first. Now it glides in so easy I couldn't believe it... It tightened up all my shifting and made it more precise. For 45 bucks to get s rebuilt coupler with tricked out busings, it an absolute bargain. After installing you send in your old one to Ed. No deposit, you just return your old one to him..."old school" way of doing business, based on trust and your word... Kind of refreshing.... Great x-mas stocking stuffer... I have no affiliation to Ed (ivangene), I just wanted to spread the word. P.s. only took me about 15 minutes to change. Tim

G50 coupler is a completely different part. There's no interchange with the 915

JWest Engineering (Rennshift fame) makes a replacement piece for the rubber isolator that improves the feel of the G50 coupler

JWest Engineering

Ed's contribution to the Pelican community is one more example of the great fellowship that continues to go on around here. It's always great to see how helpful and cooperative a lot of the 911 crowd is. Parts selling & donating, tool loaning, information sharing, custom services, and so on.

Kevin, I second that. I'm pretty new here, when you have guys in your area offer to come help you with your car...pretty amazing in this self centered world we live in. I am so happy I stumbled onto this forum. Thanks to all. Tim

WOW...guys THANKS!!

I am overwhelmed with emails, PM's and messages...a victim of my own success as it comes in waves,.,.

keep in mind this is a hobby for me and I have a full time job, wife, 2 kids, PCA instructor, and DE event organizer....

This is fun though....keep those comments coming... I am open to suggestions too.

I am just going to chime in here ....

I drove Tim's car prior to the bushing install and agreed with him that it wasn't right ...

Today Tim returned ... we did have to adjust the coupling per the Bentley on getting the preload correct for the tranny but .....

I am going to be contacting Ed and get on for myself .... after adjusting Tim's properly I can not imagine driving mine the way it shifts .. I thought mine shifted good but if mine as is is good then with Ed's help mine will be as good as Tim's ....

This bushing made the world of difference ...

Just My Opinion ... but I drove it before and after and all I can say is one word ...

WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE ... ok thats four words but I think you get the point

Steve
