Center console delete how to cover hole
While doing the shifter bushing refresh I finally was motivated to pull the center console out in my SC.
The two little holes where the screws were aren't so bad. The large hole where the AC wires were is an issue. I've searched here and google and didn't see anything too inspiring Anyone come up with something besides having a shop fabricate something or sticking a fire extinguisher there ? |

Banned but not out, yet..

For an ineligent solution I used some black fabric behind the hole and threw in a modified water bolt cage for holding beverages. Now fix it before I hurt someone.

I took a very thin sheet of carbon fiber and lightly glued it over the hole. In the meantime most of it now however is covered with the fire extinguisher.

i made a panel out of thin aluminum sheet and pop riveted it using the old holes. Painted to match rest of the interior.

What size fire extinguisher size is that? 2.5lb. Also where did you get the mount?

It's a Amerex A384T, 1.4lb. Halotron
Probably too small to depend on but the only size that seemed to fit right. It came with the car mount. I managed to avoid any further holes in carpet by mounting one screw through the large hole in carpet on north end of tunnel. At the south end, I just used Velcro and its firmly in place. |

Has anyone been able to source just the center piece of the carpet set? I removed my center console and would like to replace this piece of the carpet

Center carpet.
Any carpet shop can make you a replacement piece.
However, the original carpet material is probably "unobtanium". When I replaced the carpeting in our '86, the shop used a close match, but not perfect. pm me as needed Best, Gerry ps: Looking forward to the 2020 P-Car calendar.

Thanks Gerry. I am thinking about getting a center piece from coco mats.....not sure if that’ll be too overwhelming or not. Thanks for the reminder, I need to start a new “photo request post” for the 2020 ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another idea is to see a plumbing supply place. They have lots of rubber boots that are used where breather pipes etc com through roofs. they would fit well.
