G50 clutch problem
If anyone has had the following symptoms, please let me what caused the problem.
Each time I depress the clutch pedal, it doesn't return to its previous position by a few millimetres and it gradually gets closer to the floor. After about ten operations, the pedal is too low and there isn't enough travel to disengage the clutch. If I hook my foot under the pedal and lift it up after each application, it works fine. The clutch itself is working OK and disengages after about an inch of pedal travel regardless of the starting position of the pedal. The pedal assembly was rebuilt not so long ago and the pedal moves up freely when it is disconnected from the master cylinder, so no problem there. It seems likely that the problem is in the hydraulics, but which cylinder? Hopefully it is the master cylinder ... working on the slave cylinder doesn't look like fun! Let's hear your thoughts.

There is a hydraulic cylinder in the pedal cluster also.
I don't recall a return spring. I think the first call is to bleed the system off the top of the trans. Bruce |

Check out the pedal cluster first. Make sure the dowel pin is positioned correctly at the base of the clutch pedal.
If ok, bleed the system. If the problem persists, replace both master & slave at the same time. Last edited by mo-mon; 06-17-2017 at 03:00 AM.. |
