New disty cap ?

Ordered a new Bosch cap for my 87 G50 and noticed the "button" I'm used to seeing that contacts the coil to the rotor was missing. I've not yet replaced mine yet and wondering if the cap is defective (sure seems that way) or am I missing something here? Thought maybe Porsche in its infinite engineering wisdom might have done something different than the hundreds of other distributors I've seen

It's made in Spain and was a fleabay buy so not surprise I bough a POS, don't know if I can pull the old one out of the other cap or frankly even should consider. Getting to a bad 02 sensor plugs and wires, thought it was time. Thanks.

No pic as of today, I just see a hole where the little carbon do-dad would or should go. Pulling off the old cap shortly.

The spring loaded button isn't there?
yeah that's a defect.
I've seen them (brushes) sold for other cars - but I don't know how they are replaced.

Are they screw top terminals? I've got screw on Beru wires I think. I've had sorted results with Napa over the years, some good, some poor. They seem to be trying to compete with the crappo shops like Auto Zone and Advance these days. I have refused Toyota and VW parts numerous times over the years .

I dont think there would be anything wrong with pulling the old one out and putting it in the new dizzy cap, providing they are the same cap. It's just a bush with a spring behind it.

The one that was supposed to be in your new cap probably fell out in transit. Have you checked the packaging?
