Something different?

Champagne metallic is not the first vision of what many would conjure up for a hotrod. However, I think it works great for a "sleeper-rod." Heck, I think it brings new meaning to "911 sport classic."

Check out what I have up my sleeve... A little DIY action.

Vinyl. Not yet done. Ducktail is next. I will post more when the car is complete, and out of my messy garage.

Getting there. Rocker delete and carrera side stripes (in black, with black bumpers) next.

I dig it. Very cool. The stripe totally changes the "feel" of the color. Now you will really need some bad-ass wheels...

Thanks folks. In my mind it was a risk, but I am really liking it.

I run classic fuchs on the street, and bbs rs (also with black centres) on the track

A distance shot would be great. Very tasteful color combination. You have a good eye for color.

Champagne metallic is the base color... But it is a repaint, so actually slightly darker.

What's your plan to fill the screw holes for the rocker delete?

I had planned welding as i have a bit of rust under one rocker. The plan was to use the carrera stripes to hide the re-paint lines. Mind you, they did a great job matching paint with the duck.

If there are better solutions I am all ears. Concourse original my car is not, so I am happy to go to paths of no return.

Again, still need rocker panel delete, and black carrera side scripts. And the bumpers are not painted. Flipping and flopping between black and body color.

Went to a "car show" today. Love the new cayman... First time I had to double take and ask if I felt the 911 was the nicer looking car. It still is imho... But the gap is narrow.

Sadly, the 3.2 was leaking oil "mid show" so has to miss tomorrow. I am instructing, so said I would take him out in my car tomorrow. My car did not miss a beat.

I was able to select my favorite number, so i knew it was going to be a great two days. Those that followed ALMS racing will know the car I speak of, and my user name will make more sense.

Day one went well. No one passed me in the red group, and I caught a very well driven (and matched) 991 GTS 4 in my last session. I then realized that I should have dropped my pressures as the day got hotter, and that I had overheated my drivers rear. My car began to try and spin around on me a couple of times mid corner, until I cooled it down again. I am a slow learner at times, but a couple of big counter steers as the back end came out "more than a bit" reminded me my car is indeed trying to kill me. IT was a lot of fun, but had I done this after I got the car, I would be off track somewhere. Or at least that is how it felt in the heat of the moment. The chief instructor was with the GTS student. They were watching me and my hands on the wheel and later told me that he commented "Do you think he is having to work a lot harder than we are?"

And black it is!!!

Really happy with the end result!!!

Thanks to Joe-Bob for the Carrera scripts. Bumpers and script are semi gloss black to match the fuchs.
