No Emissions- Exhaust set up

I'm trying to open the car up a little and help it cool better. The sound is not a big issue for me. I'm keeping a stock muffler, but and curious is I can just remove my CC and if so what issue are there to the engine and the performance? From what I've seen, i have no o2 sensor, and i live in Florida, so there are no restrictions.

I have a 78 sc.

Thanks,

Miek

If you have no O2 sensor I would verify weather you have a catalytic converter or a premuffler.
A cat will steal some power. If you do have a cat then replacement choices are a premuffler or cat bypass pipe. The bypas pipe is not a muffler so louder than a premuffler. Both premuffler or bypass pipe are more free flowing than a cat. A properly constructed premuffler will flow the same as a bypass pipe.

Best solution...
Backdate to pre 74 type heat exchangers with 2 into one muffler. Really makes a big improvement.
I have SSI's and a 2 into one Dansk and love it. Not loud at all but sounds great when you open it up and definitely improved the power band.

M&K makes a nice cat bypass for your car if you don't want to buy headers or new heat exchangers.
