Is it suggested to roll it flat,, or just enough to clear the issue?

If you do roll it flat, how do you prevent moisture from getting in and subsequent rust?

I'm at a well known race shop. They use wood and roll it out. I tried to bring in a tech from another shop, but as I posted previously the adapter fit was no bueno....
