Front trunk / bonnet seal
Hi all
Just got a new seal for the frunk as part of operation "no leak" on my Targa. The mechanic has installed. However, the front lid / bonnet is now sitting up on the right side - i.e., it is not flush like the other side. Seal appears to be installled correctly. Still have the old rather cracked seal. The hinges etc. have not been adjusted - the seal on this side seems to be pushing up the whole length of the side of the bonnet. Any thoughts on what can be done? |

If you quit calling it a "frunk," over time it will learn to respect you again and settle down.

Sounds like you did not install?
You should trace the seal with your fingers and see if the mechanic allowed some foreign object to get under the seal.

Here are some photos of the franken-trunk.
The issue is on the left hand side - I didn't pick a good angle, but the bonnet is raised with respect to the wing on that side, and flush on the other side. ![]() ![]() |

That seal is not flush. Looks like old seal or something else is underneath it. It will need to be removed and put back in straight. Then you can see what is in there.
It's not hard. Just do it yourself so you know it's correct. |

While you are in there, have a look at your fender-to-tub alignment. Your trunk lid gaps are a little off, so check and make sure the right fender hasn't been off the car and put back on a little off.
