So what's the current "going rate" to have a professional shop rebuild an old WUR to factory specs? I would have to weigh that cost against this new approach.

Here is a link for a rebuilt 82 sc WUR. $420.00 + 300 core charge |

Do you have any photos of it mounted and where you placed the controller? |
Be interested to hear a subjective opinion by a purchaser if throttle response can be dramatically improved. Lack thereof is my biggest beef. I know it is theoretically possible but want a seat of the pants review.

This is pretty cool. But I've stripped the whole lambda system off my CIS. I guess for me it'd be almost like plugging a laptop up to a carburetor.. If a person needed to maintain the lambda for smog checks and such I can see it realy coming in handy then.

Caution: Bought a product from these guys a few years ago. Speed controller for an a/c fan. Was complete rubbish. Couldn't get any help from them after repeated tries. I would have no faith in their ability to supply any customer service, or a reputable product. Hope you have better luck.

I've never tried an aftermarket WUR/Idle valve with CIS, in each case I've wither kept the CIS in place and found working replacements in my box of spares, or converted over to Megasquirt/Adaptronic and used a ford idle valve. The ford idle stepper valved work great with aftermarket ECUs, can they not be adapted to work well with CIS?

Does it actually allow you to change the control pressure based on RPM?
I do see that it has its own temp sensors which should be more accurate than the heater that the original has. |

Including one guy who noticed his sprayed gasoline everywhere inside the case - when received new. I wouldn't fit one without checking it first. I guess if you wait long enough, or change the market slightly, the internet serves up a new market of folks who've never heard of you to step up and give you money. Quote:
And then you'll never hear from him again. No replacement unit. No repaired unit. No refund. No replies to the next 30 emails and 50 phone calls. 8 years later, I'm still out $500 - for a unit that showed some promise, but never delivered what it was supposed to - because with the sensor issue, it'd have needed to have been mappable to 15,000 RPM, and it wasn't... |

Do want me to contact him and see if he'll make things right for you? I'm using it on a 82sc not a turbo so it's a different application. If you used paypal or a credit card you should've been able to get a refund. |
