Black Beauty Goes Topless

Hey Jack (et al) -
I finally picked up a scanner so you could see some pictures of my first 911, a 2.4MFI '73T.
I couldn't leave that car alone either so it ended up as a widebody (all metal) with a modded motor. Topless Black Beauty?
Check it out:

...and here I thought after reading the subject that Jack cut the roof off his new car and replaced it with Carbon Fiber or something to save weight....

Sweet car.

Actually, Chris, I looked into a lightweight roof, but it would mean not being able to carry track tires on a roof rack -- so it's out.

Rarly, thats a nice looking car, very clean. Are those 315's under 930 flares?

Jack, most guys that I see that transport tires on roof racks have racks that clamp to the rain gutter, no part of the rack bears on the roof. I put a full fiberglass roof on my car and you cut away all but a 2"strip around the perimeter of the roof. the glue the glass down and do the remaining bodywork. It nice to lose 40 lbs up there and lower the CG. You should be looking for trailers and tow vehicles next

Woops, didn't mean to trick anyone into thinking Jacky-O had posted this thread.
When Jack's quest for a widebodied Black Beauty first surfaced I wanted to post these pictures. Thought he might get a kick out of the old car with the 9&11 inch flairs - in black. Nevermind that it is a Targa.

The car was very light and tossable, even with the big tires. If they look familiar they should. Those wheels and tires are the same ones now spinning on the Posermobile (new tires, same size). 345/35-15 in the rear. Engine wasn't all that strong but it sure sounded wicked.

I sold this car to fund the Posermobile project. Unfortunately they guy who bought it did so for his 21 year old idiot son. I saw this comming but hey, I'm not the stupidity police. Anyway the idiot ran the freshly rebuilt ($6000) motor low on oil then parked it under a tree. For the winter. With OUT the top on. I had just gone through at least 85-90% of this car. It had a ton of new parts. So in less than 6 months the car was quickly headed back into the condition I found it in. The owner (father) called me up and asked me if I wanted to buy it back. You can just about guess my reply.

About a year later I was at the Tweeks swapmeet and stumbled across a bunch of early parts. Wheels, seats, 930 tail, custom muffler, CUSTOM MUFFLER? THAT WAS MY OLD CAR !!! AHHHHHH !!

I waited for the guy to come back to the area. Seems this fellow from Missouri bought the car from these flegmwads and was in the process of turning it into a racecar. He kind of liked the cockpit adjustable swaybars and all new suspension parts that the sellers didn't even know were there. The new headers and Webers didn't hurt either. He got it for a steal. Thank you to this guy - Craig Willhoit - for saving this car.
