901 transmission whine. Repair shop in Seattle?
I have a 901 gearbox that has a pretty loud whine when in 1st gear. Any ideas about what would cause this?
Does anyone know of a shop in the Seattle area that I can trust to get it fixed right? Jeff

Does the whine stop when you push in the clutch?

Hey Jeff - all good references, but John Walker will be most familiar with the older trans and more likely to have parts for that trans at hand.
He is old school and absolutely amazing.

Try a fluid change. I had same issue about 10 years ago. New fluid put a stop to that nonsense.

Akers Porsche up on Capitol Hill. They do all my cars (see signature). Denny and his son Mark (Akers) also vintage race Porsche's.
Thumbs up for Monty at Redmond European, and also Chris Powell at Chris's German Auto Service, also excellent choices. Eric

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll chat with John. Good to hear about the guys on the Eastside since I live in Redmond.
That would be funny if all I had to do was replace the fluid! It's been annoying me for 10 years. ![]() Jeff
