Found this idea on 914 World from a 6 cylinder owner which is rather intriguing for our cars, especially carb owners. Since an engine fire is everyone's nightmare, this might be a pretty good solution. Electrical system will get crisped but the car and motor will be saved and it's very affordable.
Its called BlazeCut and its a 7/8" plastic tube of fire retardant liquid that when subjected to fire, bursts releasing the liquid which immediately becomes a gas and extinguished the fire. You can buy it in different lengths depending on coverage area. There is a video of a demonstration on a VW bus on-line." You can find the demo here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kswau1mGBE8 Flame away!

Wow, that looks like it's worth investing in. Around $130 for 6 feet of it, that's enough for the engine bay for sure.

Seems like pretty cheap insurance. And I was thinking that most of the time before you can get your hands on a standard extinguisher which probably won't be enough, you will more than likely be toast anyway.
