Micro Soldering Sender Unit, fixed it for FREE!
Thanks to all the awesome knowledge and info on this forum,
I knew exactly what to expect in there when I needed to pull out the sender unit and check it. It surely is not like the one on my old truck! So, I pulled it out and found this: ![]() Then I put on my "special" glasses and soldered it like this: ![]() I wanted to test it FIRST before re-installing ![]() Success ! ![]()

Had to do the same thing to the sending unit in a buddy's '78 911SC about 10 years ago so we could take a road trip to Monterey for the historics. Still works great to this day.
Nice job!

Nice work...it's a little surprising that the sender unit is a rudimentary as that...

I pulled my sending unit on the '77 because it was acting wonky, and what I found were very clean wires and connections, but the wires were not routed correctly between the V shaped contacts. Once I carefully laid them so the V tabs put constant pressure on the wires, it worked properly. I have no idea how they could have gotten so out of whack.

Always like to see people take it upon themselves to actually fix something instead of just replacing it! Not sure if that qualifies for 'micro' but GREAT job! I imagine it is likely I will need to do this down the line, very helpful!
