Hand Throttle for a Carrera

There are times when it would be convenient to be able to increase the idle speed without sitting in the cabin with a foot on the accelerator pedal or using one hand on the throttle linkage. Simple enough to implement with a long Bowden cable. Where is the best place to attach such a cable to the throttle linkage?

In my rockcrawling Jeep, I have a hand throttle using an old-style bicycle shift lever attached to the Jeeps shifter lever. Not sure I see the need in the 911, but in the Jeep it's super handy when winching or jump starting somebody or even as a crude cruise control. Also good when your feet are busy with the clutch and brake but you need to bump over something.

Why not the Flintstone solution, keep a brick handy?

easy enough, I used a 924 heater valve plumbed into the large diameter air tubing/hoses on the engine, and a bowden cable. Has worked well for several years

Here is what i had in my pinzgauer, you could pull it out and turn to lock the throttle where you want it. Looks like the cable attached to the gas pedal.

How about fitting the same hand throttle as standard on the
1974 911. Worked well as a cruise control too

Could you rig it up that the passenger side heat lever operated both heater flaps (as on the pictured cat) and simply use the driver's side lever as a hand throttle?

On the 914-6, the hand throttle simply activated a rod that pressed on a tab on the accelerator cable up by the pedals. May be another possibility?
