3.2 DME fried by incompatible Tachs?
recently posted warning on 914World site ![]() 914World.com - The fastest growing online 914 community! anybody here have more info??? SC tach vs 3.2 tach compatibility, for instance? ![]() this Pelican thread does not yet cover the issues ![]() Tachometer Compatibility Chart (p.s. i just bo't a 3.2 tach off ebay as insurance against this potential problem of my expensive Wong chipped 082 DME getting fried by my oem 1970 911 tach, (which have been working fine together for 3 yrs, albeit few miles)) - ???

I installed a 964 3.6 into my '80SC (also previously had a 3.2 motor/DME in it)
I have used the original SC tach on both installations with absolutely no problems over the last 24yrs! One thing I do know is if you hook up the black/purple tach wire from the DME to the upshift connector on the tach, you can burn out your DME.
