Just in case you thought I was getting too old to do crazy stuff...

Heading out tomorrow to pick up this:

Buying this with the insurance funds from my stolen 914. I owe everyone an update on that one - the bottomline is that we caught the guy, he's in jail, but we still have no idea what happened to the car (he's not talking). I think it's probably parted out by now (had a lot of really good parts on it).

Anyways, my buddy Dustin and I are heading out from Mammoth to Winnemucca where the car is located, and we're going to drive it back. Trouble is, this car is a true SoCal car - with no windows and no heater! It's about a four hour drive and the temperature here tonight is a cool 33 degrees (actually warmer than it was during the day). My friend JP from across the street says "sounds really fun". I'm not sure if he was just being kind in humoring my indulgences. This sounds like something I would have done in a heartbeat about 20 years ago - I'm getting older and more comfy - we'll have to see how this plays out. Miller time for sure when we get back.

I will post pics here as we go just for pure entertainment value!

-Wayne

Be darned careful Wayne, especially if you are driving on Summer tires in the cold.

Heck you might consider taping some clear plastic up for the side windows to at least cut down the wind....otherwise that suit above is a must. Be safe and looking forward to pics and details. Sorry about the stolen Six - to bad a deputy could not just go into the cell and convince the POS thief to give up the details....

sc_rufctr I just kept scrolling and that jacket kept going. Had to chuckle out loud.

Always liked that car. Bring a ski mask and some good gloves and socks. Maybe make some cardboard windows.

Glad the seats are not made of metal .....oh wait!

Dress like you are going snowmobiling (including helmet) and you'll be fine.

That's the pioneer spirit Wayne. Why does the Donner party come to mind?
On a serious note, take her slow and be safe...Tim
