I'm planning to make a 100 mile round-trip to see the BEST friend I have in the world. I've been telling him I would bring my 1990 Silver Porsche Carrera II Coupe the next time I come up...but I haven't been able to bring it for the last 3 years. There were a lot of smaller reasons, but the biggest reason was a top engine rebuild that took almost 9 months.
Now when I'm on the verge of leaving, this Thursday, from North Florida to a small town outside of Brunswick, Ga., the left side AC blower began running on it's own without my ability to control it "right after" I installed a NEW battery! The key wasn't even in the ignition switch and it came on when the batter was hooked up! I assume there is a short circuit in the electric blower motor because the motor had been developing odd sounds for the past couple of months to the point that I couldn't drive with it on any more due to the increasing decibels it was emitting. Now this has to happen. Yes, I can get it fixed in a week or so, but schedules are schedules and time won't allow another trip in the near future for me. BUT, I'm Not going to disappoint him from seeing and driving the car. No more delays after 3 years...the time is now! This kind of thing can be a big event in a small Georgia town with less than 1,500 people, with pick-up trucks as far as you can see. Another reason I need to go see my friend of 50-years is because he is a Veteran who is not in very good health. He's been dealing with his repercussion of serving in Vietnam for a long time and it gets worse every year. For him it's Eosinophilic Granuloma, a slow growing form of cancer caused by prolonged exposure to Agent Orange. Other problems must also be dealt with too. So this car problem that seems serious to me, is really small compared to his. His wife says his depression needs lifting and think the trip would help him with this too. What I need to know is this: What's the BEST way to turn OFF electrical power to the LEFT SIDE AC Blower Motor to eliminate this vocal villain without affecting anything else. I would appreciate as many options as you might have that can be done in a day. Thanks a million. David S. Jacksonville, FL |

Well, I don't have AC, nor your MY, (964?) but can't you just pull the fuse or cut power to that blower motor somehow? The top of the fuse panel has a diagram of what fuse feeds power to what. If you have a Bentley or a service manual that should give you a clue. Since it's Winter temps there is no need for it unless you have an AC that is part of your heating or defrosting system.
