Alternator warning light no longer available?
Hello,
I recently started my rebuilt engine for the first time. I am running the engine out of the car. The engine is running great; however, I have not been able to prove the charging system. I have wired the alternator and voltage regulator but I dont have a warning light wired in. It seems this light is required for a Marchal alt with external regulator. I'm looking for a warning light and maybe a diode (whatever I need) to install the warning light to test the charging system before installing the engine in the car. The part number that I found (911-617-108-00) appears no longer available and may only be a diode (not the light itself?). I found many threads regarding troubleshooting the charging system but was not success in finding a replacement light/diode. Can someone tell me if i need a light and/or a diode and where I can get these parts? Thanks, Kelly Last edited by kclem19; 03-09-2017 at 07:44 PM.. |

External VR does not require a diode.
Just the lamp holder and bulb. Bulb Holder 99963200910 - Genuine Porsche - 999-632-009-10 | Pelican Parts Bulbs here (scroll down) can't remember if 2 watt or 4 watt. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/pel_search_2016.cgi?myform_description=&make=Porsche&description=Bulb+socket&LastVisited_input=0791&make=POR&command=DWsearch&command=DWsearch&REFINE=Y&FORUM_REFER=&SUPERCAT_FLAG=Y&Previous_Section=&LastVisited_input=0791&make=Porsche&description=Gauge+lamp&Category_Parts=ON&Category_Accessories=ON&Category_TechArticles=ON

It's not critical, 2 watts will work - about 100 - 150 ma for field current.
