Sub'd. I like it.

Questions:
1) How'd you get that thing so shiny? 2) What are the burn marks on that one gear? 2) What benefit does G50 axles/flanges provide if the weak link is the internal gears? |
Quote:
they got it on stock M |

1) I just had it tumbled and it came out really really shiny! 2) That gear was welded 3) The G50 axles have the larger cv's, It is a street car so not to much strain on the drivetrain. The weak link has more to do with the driver and how it is driven, i.e. revving the motor and dumping the clutch for one. The trans and motor are both being built by Mark Kinninger in San Diego, he is the lead tech at Black Forest Automotive. He has been doing a lot of 3.6 conversions into earlier cars over the years and has a lot of insight and is a great help with the whole process. Don't know why the pictures are coming out sideways  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487308722.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487308722.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487308722.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487308722.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487308722.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487308722.JPG |
Wow ! your not going to drive that on the road and get it dirty?????
|
Yes, Mark is the man. I was lucky enough to get a ride in the Smurf with Eric at the wheel, back when it was the consistent TTOD car. Spectacular to say the least. You cannot go wrong with one of his builds.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487823129.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487823129.JPG Just picked up the crank from having the middle main journal cross drilled, main bearings grooved to match and coated. It had already been polished and magna fluxed, and now ready for assembly. |
Having a bespoke fuel filler made for the new car, drawing and the 3D printed sample. We have made a couple tweeks and the final product will be slightly different

That is a very nice looking cap, Dave.
I especially like the one in the render with the slightly shorter fin on it. Is that a one off for this car or are you thinking of selling them? |

Thank you for the compliments, not so sure about becoming a dealer, I am
going to make 4 but I already have 3 cars lined up for them at the moment. Let me see what pricing will be first before I say anymore. |

Started welding the flares on today, and some of the engine parts getting ready for assembly. This time going full tilt 3.8 with the Mahle Motorsport P&C, cross drilled crank, Pauter rods, fresh headwork, mild port, new valves, guides, ti retainers, PMO ITB with Rasant Performance EFI hoping for 375hp this time around, Mark Kinninger is doing all the motor and trans work and a lot of consulting, and my father in law Benny Flores is doing the body and paint and this and that, and you get the idea.....

Inconsequential question: Why PMO intakes over the straight Jensens?

Transmission is done and ready to go. Engine is being assembled, flares are tacked on the car and starting the front horn grill/turn signal panel to the fender. The light boxes as usual need a ton of work
I do not know why the pictures come up sideways here but it really bothers me  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435034.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435152.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435152.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435266.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435266.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435266.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435266.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435266.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1489435266.jpg |

Engine is coming together nicely, thank you Mark @Kinninger Built
PMO throttle bodies just came in along with Aasco springs and retainers, and the custom red border engine compartment decals from Car-Bone I am going out of my mind with all my photos going sideways when I download them:mad: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389795.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389812.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389812.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389812.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389812.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389812.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389812.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389812.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490389812.JPG |
Simply lovely.
How are you uploading/downloading images? Each time an image changes hands, it is likely processed, and the EXIF metadata that determines orientation is possibly "corrected" each time. The iPhone is notorious for this, as is vBulletin for ignoring the orientation flag, which is the (ancient) software Pelican uses: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum/vbulletin-4/vbulletin-4-questions-problems-and-troubleshooting/4161074-how-do-i-disable-images-from-auto-rotating |
Are the horn and turn signal boxes repop? I didn't see a mention of those?

Gauges are done, work is done by a small one man independent shop that does incredible work!
Early style pointers and silver buttons Full led lighting around the face 7400 redline on 8K tach Numeric oil level, pressure and temp Heuer chrono 180 speedo Chrome bezels http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490655639.jpg |
Spectacular !!
Will the ITG sausage filters provide enough "overhorn"clearance to get good airflow? Why ITG ? Better than K&N , Pipercross? |
The guy doing my gauges was so speedy that he finished before the artwork for the tach was completed. In all fairness I just decided to do it over the weekend so when I called him Monday morning and he said he was finished, well what could I say, more $$ now.
Don't know if I should delete the ump/rpm or move it up a little or above the needle  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490734193.jpg |

I think with any phone you post from you have to take the picture in wide view. The website rotates the photo to short and wide. Or take the picture in square mode. With iPhone square mode is a lens option. I like the lower version with the UPM/RPM. Looks Factory. I don't thing having the writing at the top will look good. I can't remember seeing it there on any tach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

great project, by the way, just like the last two. Enjoying the updates. |
I like those gauges! Nice work man!

What are those copper colored nuts inside the transmission? Are they fiber lock nuts? If they are the studs don't protrude enough for the fiber lock part to work. Fiber lock nuts with lock washers. Looks weird or is this something that was learned the hard way? Just curious.....
