'87 No Start Problem

Can someone tell me how the parking brake might interfere with my '87 Carrera starting or not? It failed to start a few days ago so I replaced the DME relay with no effect. Called AAA to flat bed it to my mechanic's garage. When we went to push it into his garage he said let's see if it will run and Voila it did. Started several times more. Today he says they finally got it to not start. When the parking brake was released it started. When the brake was engaged even just one notch it would not start. Any suggestions? I will pull out my Bentley's and try to find the circuits but can't understand why to two would be related.

Call AAA again and this time play close attention on how he turns the key.

My GUESS is it's not related. It's possible that your flywheel sensors are on their way out.
When they start to fail you'll have intermittent starts as you described. How many miles on the car?

Do you mean it would not crank over at all? Or it cranks but does not start?

A while ago, I had one like that which turned out to be one of the two yellow wires from the mechanical heater motor switch on the parking brake assembly was trapped between the p/brake base and the floor and was shorted. It actually relates to the yellow wire on the starter in a weird roundabout way. At least it did on the car I was working on.

Someone else suggested that yellow wire to me a a possible source of the problem. Basically the car does turn over well it just will not fire like it has no spark or no fuel. Hopefully my mechanic can find it. It also has a cracked fan housing that needs to get replaced plus some other deferred maintenance items.
