Where to get Big Red decals?

I know I've seen these things on eBay in the past and even on here somewhere. But I can't find them now. Someone makes them for stenciling on or adhering to painted calipers to get that "PORSCHE" look. I found a website that sells them for $20 a pair, which is fair enough. But they want $12 for shipping and won't budge on that. I can't bring myself to pay $12 when it would fit in an envelope and should cost $.37. I got a clock for Christmas which looks like a Brembo caliper, but has that lame "AutoArt" decal on it. I want to scratch it off and put a white "PORSCHE" decal on there. Anyone know where to get these? Thanks.

Richard,

You may want to contact Robin Sun at www.p-car.com

His technical article is below:

Big Red

I'm looking for something similar for my standard SC calipers. Would like a decal rather than a stencil though...if they can hold up to the heat.

OR....you can buy some decal/clear sticky back material from Staples that is printer friendly. Donwload a clean 'PORSCHE' image from the internet, use photoshop to size it up/down to your liking and print it out.

I don't think stickers would hold (with the brake dust, etc.) You could just use the font and try some of the silk screening film that creates a stencil.

My thoughts anyway....

Prospeed has them but judging from what they were going to charge you for shipping and handling ($12 to put something in an envelope!) that must be the same place you found. They ripped me off to the tune of $25 s&h for some brake adapters.

This should be easier than all that.....

- Get the Porsche font - I can send it to you - and make a simple text fiel with the word PORSCHE in the size you need.
- Take it to any local sign place that makes vinyl letters - there are hundreds of 'em.
- Ask them to make two Porsche stickers - any color you like.
- KEEP the material they cut the stickers from - it is the template you want.
- Remove the backing paper, and stick the template to your caliper.
- Paint over the template, which is now a screen.
- Bake it on [depends on the paint you use].

Simple, cheap, and you get two PORSCHE stickers for free!

WAIT.....that's exactly what Robin did. Just checked his tech article, and thats the way to do it.

Richard - not sure if you remember it from the last time you were over but here's what I did:

1) picked up a Porsche clock at the swap meet for $12
2) mounted an old rotor (cleaned of course) on the garage wall
3) hung the clock inside the rotor

viola - I now have a Porsche rotor clock!

Let us know how this project turns out.

Hey,

I came across these yesterday. It looks like you can buy them now for 30 bucks, but that's for 4 stickers, and shipping is only 2 bucks. Hope it works out for you.

Wow the first guy from Sask I've seen. Wife's from Biggar

How much based on size? And would they hold up on brakes? (Kenny those brakes look way to clean.... )

Cheers

Thanks for all the input. Robin pm'ed me and I got a 4 pack on the way for $24 total. I only need one, promised one to Leland and will have two more to give away to whomever wants them. I'm only using one stencil for the big red clock I got. I have no use for the others. I'll post a photo when I'm done.
