Hello all. My first post here. I am raising a relatively old thread. I found this thread searching the net as I had the idea to do something similar and then figured someone had likely done it already.

Thanks, David Borden and your friend Trevor. I downloaded your files and tried them out and everything seems to work great. I only have one question though. Why did you choose not to populate the 3d table with the New VE that the infinity calculates, vs. re-calculating it in your spreadsheet? I guess it comes down to the same thing (should be the same calc.), but I am curious if there was any particular reason.

Thanks, Marcus.

Marcus, I got a response from Trevor, here it is:

The NewVE that AEM calculates is merely millisecond snapshot in time at that point in the data log. There is no averaging and no validation that the commanded and actual are close together. You would never want to include a calculated VE that is making a correction of say 5% or 15% etc. You only want to consider datalog datapoint that essentially have an actual to target variance that is somewhat small. Now as a first pass you could say target 5% to basically get the VE table generally populated, and then go through iterations of slowly decreasing the variance. I generally tune 1/2% to 1% variance. Because of this, we are basically using the filtering parameters that I built to opt out of the datapoints that should not be considered in the calculation. This also includes knock events. We know if there is knock there is timing being pulled which will alter VE calculations. Therefore we want clean and tight data events only in our calculation to have the best chance at a pure and accurate as possible VE value.

The spreadsheet Trevor created has been invaluable in tuning a car with good drivability. I used it to tune my car several years ago, and I have not touched it since, I just enjoy the car.

We are getting close to starting my 2.7 Triumph ITB project and could use some help.

Does anyone have a AEM Infinity 508 session file from a car that runs reasonably well? I am going to be starting with a rebuilt 2.7 long block with 9.5:1 compression and am hoping to find a tune that is close and most importantly safe so I dont hurt the engine when running it for the first time.

I am pretty sure I will be doing coil on plug, but am open to anything from a 2.7 to a 3.0 session / tune file to get started.

I can configure my injectors, ignition etc, so am not worried about that.

David

Thank You!!

I stumbled on this thread thanks to the power of google and joined just to say THANK YOU. This tool is simply amazing!
I've been tinkering with my '72 Cutlass for almost 30 years - several engines, several transmissions, two full restorations - I've made almost every mistake possible.
Started the EFI conversion with an Infinity 308 a few weeks ago (well, started gathering parts 6 years ago, got the ECU 6 months ago, I'm sure you know how it is). Finally got the first drive and trying to wrap my head around a good process to get this project finished. I suspect this will be a big help. Especially since AEM threw away their forums.
Thank you for keeping the file share alive!
