Cat By-pass with Muffler recommendation

I'm considering installing a Cat By-pass / muffler combination on our 1983 911SC. My challenge will be replacing the cat converter when its time to pass emission testing. Appreciate any product recommendations or thoughts on my plan to swap out the by-pass when needed.

You can put in a straight pipe or test pipe or a Euro pre-muffler. Both should be drop-in replacements for the stock cat.

Doesn't CA have random roadside inspections? Seems like I recall reading other members mention that. If so, what's the penalty if you get busted?

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

Roadside inspections are VERY, VERY, let me repeat... VERRRY rare. I wouldn't and don't let that stop me. I've installed a euro-premuffler (looks like it belongs there) and a Dansk 1 in, 1 out 70mm muffler. Sounds fantastic to me. It's not loud, but has a nice rumble at lower speeds which goes away at hwy speeds. For me, no drone sound or loudness increase in the cockpit was important to me. I'm very satisfied. When smog time comes around, it's an easy swap to re-install the cat.

I have M&K pre muffler and 1 in 1 out muffler on the 88. Very nice quality and sounds good too. As mentioned in a previous post, pre muff looks like it belongs and it would be relatively easy to remove and replace with cat for inspection.

+1, get a test pipe that looks like a cat to pass the initial visual if you are unlucky enough to get caught at a random smog test net by the CHP. In my neighborhood, 5 years ago I was directed to one when going down the usual road. Don't try to turn around CHP will go after you if they see you.

+1, I really like my dansk muffler with the euro pre-muffler with O2S bung plugged in.

I'm not sure if I posted this, so I apologies if I have? My 87 cab had after market muffler (1 in 2 out). After much research, I went with M&K pre muffler & muffler. Here's a pic. Love the sound!
