76 Intermittent wiper schematic

G,day all

I have a schematic for my 76 but it dosent show the intermittent wiper circuit,

I have just pulled it out to repair the dash harness (again) but didn't take much notice as I thought I had it covered in my schematic but no.

Any help appreciated

I do have a park issue with my wipers parking in the middle of the screen, so wondering if this could be related to the intermittent circuit, so if I leave the intermittent switch and relay out will the wipers still work?

I'm guesssing that given the 76 US schematic I have dosent show intermittent wipers perhaps they weren't fitted to US 76 any ideas?

Regards Michael

Intermittent wipers are a separate drawing.
Here are all the supplemental drawings for
'76/'77. Intermittent wipers are in there.

The wipers parking in the middle of the windscreen point to an issue in the wiper stalk. Not the intermittent wiper knob thingy. Well 9/10 anyway.

If you turn off the intermittent function (you should feel a click) and make your wipers run with the stalk only. What happens? Bad parking?

If you open the wiper stalk you will see that the metal thingies do not all make contact. this is due to the plastic aging and going soft and thus not pushing the contacts close.
Fiddle around and you will understand.

Once you solved the parking issue (a bad ground close) you will notice that the intermittent knob will work and you are able to fine tune your wiper interval even better then in modern cars.

If the plastic in your wiper stalk has gone completely soft you are toast and so is your wallet.

You could try to source from an AUDI dealership (I think a 90 or 100) but I guess they are not thick in Australia.

Thanks. Very helpful, since I need to repair his delayed wiper module.

Think I found the problem

Will order a new one when I get enough stuff together for an order, so will probable be a few months before I get a new relay.

Is this one repairable by an electronics tech?

Regards Michael
