The 10 greatest Porsches ever made...

This article popped up and I wanted to share it with the Pelican community to get your feedback on what you believe are the 10 greatest Porsches ever made. Do you agree with the article or would you add/subtract any of what they listed?

The article is HERE and the notes added to each option they listed.

Here is what they listed:

1. Porsche 918 Spyder
2. Porsche 356
3. Porsche 917
4. Porsche 959
5. Porsche 911 Carrera RS
6. Porsche 550 Spyder
7. Porsche Carrera GT
8. Porsche 986 Boxster
9. Porsche 928
10. Porsche 930 911 Turbo

Let's keep this list to 10, but what would you change? I do not believe the list is in any particular order, but if you if you were to order it from your #1 pick to #10 pick, what would it be in?

I don't think the 928 should be in the top ten. While innovative it is a footnote at best. Limited editions like the RS, GT and 959 are also in that category. For normal people, the SC and the 914 should be in there.

No 956/962!?!?! Take out the 928 and add a 962. Make it a Dauer if you want a "road" car.

And I'd replace the Boxster with a 935.

seriously ? a boxster and a 928 in the same list as those other cars ? just typical media trying to appeal to the masses and throwing in token cars.

get rid of those two right off the bat.

I would have added the yellow bird and a freakin tractor before those cars.

I think every Porsche owner's favorite all-time would be 'Mine!'. That should be Number One.

Those lists are always silly. Can one really put a full bore race car on the same list as a street car. And a 356 is above the 917?

The 356 is the genesis of Porsche and without it there would be no Porsche. Does that make it the second best Porsche ever?

They need to separate the race cars from the street cars. It is like comparing a submarine to an air craft carrier.

This is Luccia's list. Don't attack it, counter it. Everybody's will be different. And the list content is going to be determined by the parameters of 'greatest'. In Luccia's list, it applies to all Porsches regardless of pedigree. If you can't make a list that includes Porsches of all types, it's not comprehensive is it?

Not even Luccia's, its Digital Trends list. And who the h3ll are they anyway. But yes, definitely a subjective list.

Mine would have to include a 935 or 934 and yes the 930 would be significantly further up the list.

I would move the 917 to the top. The 917/917-30 served notice to the racing world that Porsche was a force to be reckoned with. Having watched those cars race at Watkins Glen in the early '70s, they made a profound impression on a young kid and initiated my love of all Porsches.

The 911 should be moved up since it is the most iconic Porsche to the general public. Take the 911 out of the Porsche line-up and I'm not sure Porsche is still around today.

Yes, not mine, but one I ran across and wanted to get the communities feedback about what their top 10 would be. It's also not in order by #1 being better than #10. The list was interesting to me because of the Porsches it listed and the argument they gave to why it's on the list, so make sure to read it over for those of you who haven't. I agree that it's a list that applies to all Porsche enthusiasts.

I, personally, would probably add the GT1 to that list.

I would alter the list.

Original list:
1. Porsche 918 Spyder
2. Porsche 356
3. Porsche 917
4. Porsche 959
5. Porsche 911 Carrera RS
6. Porsche 550 Spyder
7. Porsche Carrera GT
8. Porsche 986 Boxster
9. Porsche 928
10. Porsche 930 911 Turbo

My list (in no specific order)
1. 918
2. 917 (all versions)
3. 916
4. 934/935
5. 959
6. 904/906
7. 911 Series from 1964-Present 911 4.0 (I know I am cheating)
8. 981/982 (latest 6-cylinder {pre 4-cyl} Boxster/Cayman series)
9. 550 / RSK
10. Porsche type 360 cisitalia (1947)

Too bad. I really like them all. The only ones I don't like are the ones I have to push.

If i'm not mistaken, that pic is entering turn 5 at Road America, but I know what you mean about seeing them run back in the day.

I can't imagine a top ten list without a GT2 Evo on it (near the top of the order, if there was an order).
