What hub/strut bearings do I need?

I started putting together a five lug front suspension for my 914. The hubs wouldn't slide onto the front struts so obviously I have the wrong inner bearings. I didn't realize there are two different spindle diameters. Both struts pictured are 3" 911. I can only find one part number for the inner bearing that corresponds to the strut with the smaller diameter spindle. What bearing should I be using? Thanks.

It may just be a matter of a bearing that's not honed just right on the ID of the inner race. A local friend Ed (175k911) here on the forums had an issue some years ago with sketchy front wheel bearings.

New SKF inner front bearing doesn't fit on spindle....

These spindle sizes are completely different. Bearing fits on one but not the other. Not just a burr.
It's the strut that uses a pinch bolt, not a cotter pin.

Bearing size........

Mark,

These are the old bearings I removed from the 3" spacing strut (Boge?) for my '78 SC.

So what size bearing do you have now?

Tony
