Definitely 7s in front, looks like 9s in rear, but hard to tell from 8s w/o a close-up of lug nuts. (They are recessed on 9s, offset is almost same as 8s from outside view). BTW, check your email.

7's and 8's or 7's and 9's. My guess would be 8's, but they have the same outside rim.

Since were on the subject, what is more popular or common? 7&8's or 7&9's and is there a substantial performance increase between the two setups on a SC?

Simon, I would say that 7s+8s are definitely more common on SCs and Carreras, they were a common upgrade when the cars were new and remain so. 9" rims only came on 930s, (8s came on early 930s), and 8s are easier to find on the used market. Performance gain is slight from either, appearance gain is big, though. When Porsche realized that the end was near for Fuchs, (due to ABS brakes and just styling change of cars), they started including 8" rears standard on '88 models, then 9" on some '89s, (last year for Fuchs), they had more 9s laying around than 930s to build.

Thanks Denis!

I wanted to know what the deal was because my '78 is running on 6 and 7's and she looks akward the way she's sitting. I was thinking of adding some spacers but I feel that the wheels are just to narrow for the body and the C2 look that I added. Anyone out there want to trade 6 and 7's for 7 and 8's or 7 and 9's. I know its a long shot but you never know what could happen on this BB.

Car looks a little low in the rear. Front looks good. JMO.

I'm gonna guess that those are 9's in the rear.

Look at the rear tire. It's tucked under the rim pretty good with very little sidewall exposed. Yeah, you could say that SC rear wheel could be an 8 with a 225 tire and it would look tightly tucked too. But here's a 77 930 (came standard with 7's and 8's) with a 225 on it and the tire looks kinda "fat" under the rim.

Offset on the rear of the SC looks just a little deeper too.

Front could be a 951 8" Fuch. 951 8 is quite similar to a 911 7

951 8 is on the left and 911 7 is on the right.

As an aside, are those H1 headlights on the SC? Pretty cool looking!

Really nice looking car. The silver paint and bright (instead of black) window trim is sharp. I like the Euro rear bumper guards too instead of the monster ones we get on the US cars.

8's and 9's look virtually the same from the outside

That Ice Green 930 above is a very early car judging by the rear spoiler, so it probably has 7 + 8 x 15's

Owner of green 77 930 said they were 16's so I had to assume he was right.

Side by side pic above is a great indication of how similar the 8 & 9 wheels look.

The fuchs in the pic on the silver SC look much more deeply dished than the 9's in the photo's.. why is that camera angle? or what..

I thought I'd post another pic of an 8 vs a 9. The 8 is on the left.

One thing I do like about that car...no fog lights give it a cleaner look...mine are coming off this weekend!

Sherwood,
from that angle they look like copies of one another... is it really true that the extra width come from the inside of the wheel.. maybe it is the camera angle screwing with me! .. because if you didn't state which was which i'd really not be able to tell from that angle!

Thanks Eric

Eric,
As Speeder said, the only outward difference in appearance is in the lug nut area which is more recessed on the 9s. While the added inch width is on the inside, I suppose the lug nut recess allows the wheel to sit slightly toward the outside?

Eric,

Did you get front wheels yet? I plan to remount my 205s onto my old/new 7s when I get back from Boston. I even like the look of the above car so much that I may remove my wing and put my old lid back on until Mid-Ohio in the spring.

Noel
