An update on lighted key head conversions from old school keys and LED upgrade.

For those who want a 911 SC style lighted key head. Old plastic or 914/VW key heads can be converted AND use an LED bulb for cheap. Heck you could even convert your DD key.

I posted over on the 914 World BBS as most of those guys still use the plastic headed old style VW keys.

Very nice write up with pics.

I have thought how easy it would be to drill a small hole above the ignition and placing a small red LED tied into the gauge light harness. It would be on as long as the light switch is pulled out or it could be tied into the courtesy lights when you open the door and turn off when you close the door. Any instructions on either would be cool.

A two pole LED can be put in the dash. Then hook the negative to the door pin and the positive to a constant positive source.
