Any recommendations on how to install the original ashtray? Looks like PO did some cutting

It looks like you will have to attach a new mounting plate. There is a rear view picture of it in post #6206 of the following thread:
What did you do to your 911 today?
It might give you an idea. It will depend on what ashtray parts you can find.
Good luck,
Dave

A previous owner had done the same thing to my dash [though maybe a little neater job]. I think it was to fit aftermarket A/C vents. I thought there was a plate that could be available to just screw on, but was informed by more knowledgable Pelicans that the proper way to repair was to cut out that section of the dash, and weld in a replacement piece. That was beyond my capabilities, and I was more interested in filling the gap in the dash than having a functional ashtray. I ended up just running a couple screws up through the bottom of the ashtray into the existing metal. Looks just like a normal ashtray, though it doesn't open. I'm sure there are other solutions that can be applied here.

Here are the step by step instructions I was given to do it properly. Check out post #14.

Looking for a few small parts

Appreciate the thoughtful replies gents. I'm going to read the suggested links and either try to get it back to original or extend the knee pads to make it one continuous unit. Thanks again!!
