'85 911 wiring for aero mirrors.

Hi to all:
I would like to know if someone makes the module for the conversion from flags to aeros. If not can someone post a picture of the connections in the module ( without the black tape) to see how it's done. I have searched the forum but all cars are '86 and newer. And also have the Bentley but the diagram for the '85 is wrong (showing two motors). Any help would be REALLY APPRECIATED since I am not very electronics oriented.

Thanks,

Francisco Soto

There was a fellow that I found in old threads who sold them. I sent him a message or two a few months back and never heard from him. I never found another source for them

Was doing some searching recently about Aero mirrors on early cars (pre '87). I found this thread on converting '87 and newer flag mirrors to '86 and older cars. The '87 and later cars use a dual motor flag mirror just like the Aero mirror whereas the '86 and older use a single motor and a clutch. I think the wiring diagram/instructions in this thread will also apply to wiring your Aeros to your car (Although the wire colors may not be quite right). As shown in the diagram, it uses a small "single pole double throw" relay which is "tucked" inside the mirror to make the dual motor mirror work with the early wiring. I think the "conversion module" just did the modified wiring and they wrapped the relay in black tape. Give it a look, post #33

My '84 has aero mirrors, but they are not hooked up (future project).

My plan was to use a multimeter to see which terminal did what at the switch, and then use a 9V (or car) battery to see what the pins were on the mirror. After that, just connect 'em.

If relays are needed, standard relays last forever—way better than what Porsche put in these things. You can use an STSP in place of an STDP (you just leave one terminal unconnected).

If you look at the conversion wiring diagram in the link, two Single pole/Double throw relays are required!

Thanks uwanna and Tremelune for your help. Didn't saw that post since I was searching for aero mirrors. I saw in a 928 forum a wiring diagram with one relay. I think the 928 and 84-85 Carreras used the same one motor and clutch configuration.

Well, just finished the wiring for the aero mirrors and want to share what worked for me. Used one SPDT relay in each door.
A. Driver side.
1) double white wire from car to relay terminal #86.
2) double black wire from car to relay terminal #30.
3) black with yellow stripe from car to white and black wires from mirror motor (white and black wires jumped).
4) one brown wire from car to relay terminal #85.
5) relay terminal #87 to black/brown wire from mirror motor.
6) relay terminal #87a to white/ brown wire from mirror motor.
7) one brown wire from car to the glass.
8) gray wire with green stripe from car to glass.

B. Passenger side.
1) white wire from car to relay terminal #86.
2) black wire from car to relay terminal #30.
3) blue from car to white and black wires from mirror motor (white and black wires jumped).

Hope this help.
