SSI Question
On my stock 83' 911 SC, I am going to be replacing my stock heater boxes with the SSI's and the stock muffler with a Dansk 2 in 1 out sport muffler. With this new set up, is the cat automatically eliminated? Or do I need something else?

I'm in the process of doing the same with my rebuild and have been reading up. Yes, the cat is deleted entirely.

You will need different oil lines.

you also need to replace the oil lines w/ the version from '1974 You can see the old style oil-line that goes under the trans here, you will also need to rerun the heat ![]() here you can see ann SSi install, oil line is visible near the flywheel end of the block and heat behind the mufffler. Here cats were used on the muffler outlets, these aftermarket cats are only required where legal constraints are enforced. ![]()

Not sure....What am I missing? I thought the SSI was basically a pre-74 arrangement for heat for the cabin with better flow to the tailpipe. In other words, I thought the SSI provided heat in lieu of the stock heater boxes (in addition to better performance).
Am I mistaken? |

You'll love the SSIs! The heat output is great and the system is much simpler than the fan assisted later systems. It takes the 911 engine back to the way the engineers originally designed it before the EPA mandated changes. I like clean air, but with the amount most vintage Porsche's are driven, I don't believe they contribute significantly to degradation of air quality. Then again, I live under the O'Hare Airport glide paths!
