Show me your brake cooler pics

I need some ideas for how to run my brake cooler hoses up to the front bumper. It seems like I may hit the hose with my wheel if I place it on top of the A arm. But it also seems that I may have clearance issues if I run the hoses under the A arm on my Euro height car.

Smart Racing solved the problem.

The SR solution looks good. Autometrixhas this solution:

I've also seen the hoses routed through the trunk, then holes get punched through the inner wheel well.

If you just tie them to the control arms, plan on frequent replacements.

I have seen the expensive options out there, but I too want to do this without buying any more expensive parts. It also seems to me that the Smart Racing design is odd, in that the tire would come very close (if not hit) the front end of the tube. I can make my own fiberglass tube to mount in the exact same way, but it seems as though I could have clearance problems with the wheels. I do see from these examples that I need to run the hose on top of the A arm, and then maybe next to the tow hooks on the front of the A arm, then up to the bumper.

I am curious as to why using zip ties or a similar idea would cause me to need to replace hoses frequently. Is it because the ties break, or do they move around on the A arm too much?

Nothing wrong with zip ties. It's just that if you run the hose under the control arm, it will rub on the ground and wear out. If you run it over the control arm it will probably rub on the tire and will likely get crushed by suspension travel.

That's why these type solutions exists, however expnesive.

Routing through the trunk can be done inexpensively, but it is a commitment!

Thanks for the reply Chuck. If I understand this now, the "sleeves" that are attached to the A arms and carry the hose are to protect the hose from getting crushed by the suspension movement (i.e. pinched between suspension parts). I still don't understand where the hose is run after it exits the "sleeves" (Smart Racing), to prevent the tire from hitting it. I think I need to do a sleeve on the A arm area, then tie it as close as possible to the forward part of the A arm next to the tow hook.

I don't want to cut holes in the car to run a brake cooler, seems over ambitious to me.

P.S. The race battery has been working great!

Oooh, I thought those looked a little too cool...$600...ouch

I am planning to use the Smart-Racing A-arm manifolds/brackets with AJ-USA diffusers, and run the hoses up to my front spoiler's inlets. That setup should be very effective and under $300.

I've been running the Holbert Cool Brakes (tm) from OG Racing for years and they work great. I renew the zip ties about once a year. If something hits the (under A-arm) scoop it breaks the zip tie instead of the scoop.
