Setting timing

When setting timing on my bare bones 1974 2.7L do I dis-connect the vacuem line and plug the hose or leave it connected?

Try this ... I'm still considered rookie but found this that may be useful and specifc to you. You may have to paste the URL together...

According to the spec book one leaves the vacuum line connected. For 1974 dwell is 38 plus or minus 3 degrees, and timing is 5 degrees ATDC at 900 plus or minus 50 rpm. Must be a lot of tuning up going on today!:D Jim

The following thread includes spec book procedure and timing data ... '74 USA data was the same as '72/'73 911T data.
