Question Some text far too wide for my screen

Hi gang! Most of the threads show well on my screen: border to border. But about 1 in 25 or so, the text view will be far too wide, and so as to read the full text, I've got to use the "left" and "right" arrow keys to read each line (and it"s a real nuisance). How can I change this for the troublesome threads? Thanks yr assistance!

Paul - two possible reasons you sometimes have trouble. The first is when someone posts a photograph that is wider than say 500 or 600 pixels, it will drive the borders of all the text on that thread out to the max of the picture size. The second, I've noticed that when I use an older version of Netscape, (4.7) it sometimes will go wide on me too. This has never happened with MS IE. I don't know why.

Question

the text has gotten very large on my screen yesterday. Did my wife screw something up besides me.

Boy, I'm sure glad I'm not the only one who can't figure out the large print and wide borders. And I'm pretty computer literate. This is more complex than working on my Pcar. Wayne- any advice? Is it on your end or our ours?

It's not just you, I'm seeing the wide text thing too. The most recent example of this effect occurs in the "To those who have converted earlier cars to 3.0-3.6 power... "
thread.

Thanks guys, looks like I woke some one up! I get it on the "might want a 911" as well as the "3.0 to 3.6 liter conversion" threads (this last one doesn't run a picture in it!). I run IE 5.5 on my box.

Paul - the "3.0 to 3.6" thread has a very long URL pushing the margins out, and the "might want a 911" thread has a picture of the blue 911 pushing the margins out.

I think it happens sometimes when someone posts a picture and then removes it, expanding the viewing screen even when its gone.

If the text has gotten bigger, do the following, if you have IE 5.0:
Click on the pull down: "View"
Select "Text Size"
Select "Medium" (or smaller if you wish).

BTW, I run at 800x600 res.

Except for wide pictures, I find this text size to work best.

Hope this helps,
-Z.
