More Matt Kellett rear speaker frames
Hi Guys,
I was inspired by a recent thread that does much the same thing I am doing. My old rear speakers were in pretty sad shape, and there were imprints of previous speaker grills on my rear shelf vinyl. I have no rear seat belts, so I elected to remove the rear shelf to work on it in my shop. I selected Rockfort Fosgate Punch 4 x 6 speakers. These are a little thicker than my old speakers, so I mounted them below the rear shelf. The old backing plates were removed for the shelf and were placed behind the speakers creating a sandwich with the grills on the outsides. Donor grills came from generic 4 x 6 speaker covers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M048F6T/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used a little epoxy and weighted the grills into position until it set ![]() I enlarge the screw holes in the frames to 3/16" to accept the screws I had on hand ( no 8 or 4.2mm), 1 1/4" long. You can see the rings supporting the speakers from behind: ![]() From the exterior surface the speaker covers and grills. ![]() It was a pleasure to deal with Matt, user name MattKellett. Cost was about $105 shipped. I ordered on Saturday and they're installed on Monday. Product is heavy duty and beautifully made, as many others have noted. Anyway one more vote for this source of a solution for a small nuisance problem for 3.2's. Good luck, Dave
