How to bench test oil level sender
So I got a used oil tank and sender and have the sender out of the oil tank while I am cleaning it. The sender is dated 1994. I want to check the sender before I re-install the tank.
I don't have a full wiring harness at present so I can't connect to the gauge to calibrate the sender. Is there any way to bench test the sender without having an operative vehicle? Perhaps measure the resistance in ohms at full max and min ranges? Does anyone know what the specs are for that? Or apply 12 volts and wire the gauge in to the circuit? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Thanks, but I read that thread before I made my post and it seemed as though they hooked their sender back into an operative wiring harness and just checked the gauge on the dashboard.
I do not have an operative vehicle so I can't do that. I was wondering if anyon had checked the voltages or resistance while on the bench. |

Oh I see, well you can borrow mine since we are neighbors :-D
I did not measure it as I was more concerned about how well the gauge read compared to the arm on the coil.
