oil S hose

Looking at this hose, it looks like it is delaminating. I'm guessing if this fails it's a good way to dump all the oil in a hurry.

Is this line between the oil tank and the cooler what is referred to as the 'S' hose? and I assume 911-107-233-00 (with new clamps) is the replacement. Any 'gotchas' when replacing? How tight do the clamps need to be done up?

Is that delaminating? Or is it the remnants of a part # sticker? Clean it and see. Replace it while changing your oil and keep the pan under it , re use your clamps. One of the easiest oil hose to replace.

Nikos,

Spend some time cleaning and removing the old paper sticker on the S-hose. I don't think it is delaminating because the rubber hose is not laminated but rather extruded or molded rubber. It would dry rot and crack but not delaminate as you stated. Keep us posted.

Hi Niko..as the boys mentioned above ..there is nothing wrong with you oil S hose(at least no on this picture to be seen).Unless you see a crack on one of each ends there is no worries. To make it tight..use only hand no power tools.

But, if it is 20 years old, it is probably hard as a rock. So, next oil change, add that hose to the work. It is actually one of the cheaper Porsche hoses to buy.

If you ever replace it, I got a hint of someone overhere: make sure that the seam is at top of the hose.

You are kidding me friends, right??? If you have to ask, change the damn hose. Not even worth analyzing. Next oil change, replace it. Its what you don't know that is going to kick your ass. This is an easy pain preventing decision...

+1, less then $25. Replace and keep the old one in the frunk as emergency spare.

I just replaced mine with a genuine Porsche hose a couple of months ago. I replaced it several years before with an OEM hose and that one was hard as a rock. Neither one of them had a seam.

While you guys are right that it was notdelaminating, it's as hard as a rock - so I'll swap it out before refilling with oil.
