Cat Bypass Pre-Muffler recommendation
Can someone recommend a cat bypass? Looking for best performance and light weight. does anyone have information about the weight of various cat bypass? i am leaning towards the M & K which supposedly weighs 6.5 lbs. I am not sure how that compares with others though?
Also, does having a cat by pass make your exhuast a little louder? Lastly, does the M & K fit up to a B & B muffler? thanks! Gerry |

I had the Bursch CBP and swapped for M&K Pre-muff. It was a bit bassier and quiter.
If you existing cat fits the B&B, the new pre-muff will too. Remember you need three new gaskets and 9 bolts/nuts (copper). Also Torque Properly

+1 on M&K also. I picked up a used Fabspeed cat bypass on this site awhile ago. The combination and sound is great.

The Bursch catbypass is not expensive...nice sound. The M&K exhaust is the favorite here...better heard one before to go....the sound of M&K is very throathy....very nice match with the 3.2 air cooled engine....I choose the Monty, not better than anyother one, but I like the refined sound coming from it....Just my 2 cents.

I have a Dansk pre on my B&B Single in out. Nice. A tad lower than stock cat when I had my OEM muffler on. No louder really. The B&B of course changed everything.

I really liked, now I miss it, my GHL straight pipe with the Borla dual out muffler on a '85 Carrera. WOW that was a very nice sound! LOTS of compliments everywhere I went. Good Luck on whatever you do....

M&K is the way to go. Link below if anyone is looking for one.

I installed the m&k premuffler a little bit ago. I used a cheap meter app on my phone to check the dB level before and after. Actual dB goes down just slightly, but there is more bass to the exhaust tone than with the cat. Also, since it's much more free flowing (you can literally see through it), it doesn't muffle the crackling on deceleration, which is a plus for me.
Buying from m&k's website, the premuffler comes with all three gaskets and bolts/nuts. I think our host has added that in as well. If you are like me, and you don't have an O2 sensor, you will need a plug. You can buy an oil drain plug at the local hardware store and that will work. I can't remember the size though.
