Rear qurter window swap
Does anyone know if I can replace the moveable rear quarter windows on my '70 couple with the fixed quarter windows from a '74 or later car and if so, what's involved?
Thanks, Mark |

Hello
the later fixed windows can be installed in your car. you need to find a pair of base trim strips for that model- they are narrower than the open style. if you can't find them, you can carefully cut the wrap over edge off yours and reinstall them. The glass, rubber, and aluminum trim will all have to be the fixed window type. Remove the edge seals from the chassis (the black textured push on stuff) We file down the hinge support tabs on the vertical B pillar so the rubber seal can sit flush. You will notice a slight depression on the fixed window install, due to your chassis missing the vertical seal mount flange (not available from anywhere- you would have to have one fabricated and welded in place). But if that section being a little depressed and tight with the door frame does not bother you, then it will be just fine without it. Good luck |

Make sure that is what you want to do. My windows don't open, but I wish they did.
Not enough to go through the hassle of changing them, but it would be nice. Tom |
