2.7L into a 1978 SC?

Hi All, I’ve been absent from the 911 side of things for a bit due to a preoccupation with my 944.

I have a ready to go 2.7 on a pallet that I removed from my 74 project. It is running carbs and an MSD ignition and is complete top to bottom and exhaust to 915 trans. I recently got a line on a rust free 1978 tub. Am I correct in thinking this will be an easy drop in? Are there any glaring problems I am missing here? Just thought it would be a fun and interesting to get a 911 back on the road!

Thanks, Andy.

With a couple electrical interfaces, plugs right in
Tach, CD, just a couple thoughts.

Great idea Andy, seems these days there are a few good tubs around with engines robbed for early hotrod conversions, you will need a low pressure fuel pump and I recommend a fuel pressure regulator, you will have some redundant wiring, just insulate it off and keep...maybe a 3.0 may come your way in the future so its nice to retain that wiring.
Dependant on what MSD you have you make you may need to run an adaptor to drive the tach....not 100% sure on that.
IMO a good ignition system go's a long way to making a carbed 911 engine start/idle better as I have experienced with my 914/6 conversion.

Hey Thanks!
I went and checked the car out tonight. Straight and no rust! The weird part was it looks like someone slapped on a 914 front suspension in order to make it a “roller.” I mean I guess it rolls like that! Complete with four lug hubs and no front brakes. Not sure about the steering rack. I think it could still be worth it just due to the rust free crash free tub. Just have to factor in a front suspension.

Also... I was running a PMO fuel pressure regulator with the carbs on my other car. Seemed to work just fine!
