Ground strap location?
I've just learning my way around these cars as I bought my 76 911 in the fall. My car ran well when I bought it, but now has a rough uneven idle, doesn't have great power on acceleration and appears to be running a bit rich.
I have no idea what could have changed from warm indoor winter storage. Anyway, I wanted to start trouble shooting my engine and I'm suspecting a vacuum leak. Got poking around under the rear hood and opened the oil filler cap with the car running; didn't change a thing so I guess I'll be trouble shooting for vacuum leak/leaks. Anyway, while poking around I noticed a ground strap coming from up around the rear passenger hood hinge and its got a black plastic sheath on it. Pulled on it to see how the connection was, and it is hanging completely disconnected! I'm doubting this would be my issue with the engine, but of course I want to reconnect it properly to get a good ground. Can anyone post a pic of where this strap should ground on the engine? ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It is a ground for the engine lid. Just goes to the body at the hinge and one of the hinge bolts on the lid.
