H4 Bulb suggestions w/relay upgrade

Hi all, i just finished installing the headlight relay upgrade kit, now it's time to replace the bulbs for a brighter pair- what are you using with the relay upgrade? after the upgrade the brightness of my current bulbs did not increase, they still look the same.

Get a set of these Phillips X-treme Vision +130 bulbs, they are fantastic!
I had tried 100W bulbs but I like these better as they project further. The folks on the CandlePower forum have tried them all and say these are the best by far. They don't recommend the 80/100 as they have a much shorter life and don't project or focus as precisely. Try um,you'll love um!

Hi...Is the light white, or do they have a blueish tinge?..

The light is white, they add just a tinge blue to the bulb to make the light
a very white 3700K versus the standard 3500K light temperature which looks a little more yellow. But no, they don't look like the "ricer" blue bulbs.
The high beam is very precisley focused for far view without a "near field" bright splash
of light which spoils your far view. The near field bright splash is the problem with the
ultra high watt 80/100 bulbs (besides being technically illegal). With the ultra high lumens of the 100w bulbs you actually have worse far view as your pupils contract
due to the very bright light up close.

Don't the 100w bulbs also cause trouble with the heat to the connector? I remember reading something about ceramic connectors to deal with the excess heat.

Yes I believe it would be wise to use ceramic connectors if running 100w bulbs. Especially with our old cars. So far everything I've read has been extremely positive for the Phillips +130. I'm leaning in this direction, and for $25 bucks for the pair, you can't go wrong. PIAA 100w rally bulbs are almost a $100. Then the extra cost for the ceramic connector.

High resistance in loose and corroded original terminals is another reason to replace the connectors.

I put in Phillips Gen 7 LED bulbs. They take 35 watts and are 4000 lumens. They have been great. I just need to get the alignment right. No heat issues and love the color of the light.

Don't overload the amperage rating of the relays. If you have 2 bulbs (left and right) running thru a 20 amp capacity relay then the max would be 120 watts for each bulb and that would be right on the max capacity. If you are going to use 130 (or higher) watt bulbs then you will need 30 amp capacity relays and main fuses. Don't burn your car down just to get a brighter light!

Update- got the Phillips x-treme vision bulbs in, had the car out last night with my Wife who knows how bad the lighting can be and we were both blown away with the new setup! I just need to set the beam's a bit lower, I noticed they were a little on the high side. Thanks guys

Hi...Where BTW were you able purchase your Philips Extreme Vision +130 H4's?.. Amazon's US sites on the West Coast continue to be down...Our local shops only handle the Extreme Vision 100's.

One main site that is selling them is from eastern Europe, and another one is from the UK...The latters price is right for Canada but it takes up to 10 days to receive them

Got mine on Amazon- took 3 days. One day to get back in stock and then 2 days for shipping, Im in the midwest. Pepboys only has x-treme +50, +75 and +100 no dice on the +130's.
