Click / Tap Noise on decel 88 3.2

I have an 88 3.2. the car just developed a click/tap noise that occurs when I left off the gas, happens about 70% of the time now. Sometimes it happens when I'm just cruising at a constant speed, but much less often. The sound is as if someone taps the passenger or rear window with a quarter or a key. "CLICK!". Thoughts? it's pretty annoying.. can't really tell where it's coming from, inside, outside etc. not sure where to even start. Thanks for any suggestions.

Is it a single click, multiple rapid clicks

Start it up in your driveway and have a friend pump the gas pedal while you stick your head near the throttle linkage. See if you can reproduce the click while not moving.

It's one click, not multiple.

hi diablo..you really need to try to record the sound otherwise we will be guessing...
i have heard it all ,even loose hub cap could do the this noise...so, try to record it...
Also try to drive near some kind of wall it will multiply the sound...
