It's a kit for sure. Looks to be pretty well done though.

Eric...did you look at his page? I would think kit before anything else...and if I remember correctly the 959 had the two rear filler flaps, this one does not. It's ok for him to dream though. Ha Ha...one person said "Who are you? The pool boy!" Ha Ha

Yes, I remember that as well. The guy wrecked his 959 and then he had it made into a cab.

It is obviously a kit. The interior of the 959 had a lot of differences from a regular 911. That interior is clearly not a 959 interior.

Also, the 959 was made a lot earlier than '89.

and a lot of other difference, too.

The 959 had unique round headlamp washers, this one doesn't. And many other missing details. A very nice kit car, but legally this would be gross misepresentation since it seems to be a reworked 911 and by no means a 959. I'm sure he can afford a good lawyer, though.

It's funny you still have the slightest doubt it's a real one. Of course it's a kit.

Quote from the website.
"1989 Porsche 959 Speedster is a conversion from what used to be my 1994 Porsche 911 C4"

Looks nasty to me, but I cant say too much untill my driveway is as well stocked.

It is sort of funny that we've had a full thread here debating whether this is genuine or a kit when the guy's website says, right up front, that it is a converted 964!

Anyway, I think it is kind of interesting. If it had the performance to live up to the looks - say, if it started life as a turbo C4 and you added some oomph - then why not have a 959-inspired cab? If it rains you can always take one of the Ferraris you have laying around for the maid and gardener to use.

The wheel wells look odd. Other than that it's not bad... at least he didn't do a v8 conversion on a 914/ body kit. Remember L.A. is for getti'n the looks

the conversion actually looks to be pretty well done... i'd never do something like that, but we all have our own tastes... i must say, the guy's got a pretty nice collection of cars though.

Could be a Getty Design Kit or a combination of a couple of kits.

jyl- I believe that the guy changed his website to say it was converted from a 964. I remember going to his site when the thread first started and there was no mention of the 964 conversion. Did somebody email him asking about it?
